An Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) tells you how energy efficient your home is. It is rated on a scale from 1-100, and given a grade ranging from A to G. As well as a score, it provides recommendations on how to improve the energy efficiency of your home. An EPC is valid for ten years.

There is a legal requirement to have a valid EPC in place whenever you sell or rent out a property. Grants for solar panels also often need an up to date EPC.
